Buildings & Grounds Overview

 Team Goal Statement

The goal of the Buildings and Grounds Team is to create and sustain a religious campus that promotes balanced stewardship between property management and utilization in a safe, secure, and attractive way, consistent with the direction and mission of Christ Church.

Mission Statement for Buildings and Grounds at Christ Church

The campus of Christ Church Episcopal is a special place on which the sanctuary and educational buildings exist to provide God’s people a place to further their relationship with God and with one another. These grounds are dedicated to the furtherance of our mission to the community and to God. The facilities are also of service to the greater community in endeavors and activities consistent with the overall mission of Christ Church Episcopal.

  • Garden Club: This group may become independent of B&G eventually, depending upon the interest. In addition to periodic projects such as seasonal flowers and landscape plants on the church grounds (at the entrance, the main sign, etc.), the group has occasional speakers on subjects of interest. The Garden Club has not met regularly but rather convened as a project is identified. We would like to see it meet regularly and form an independent identity someday.
  • General Clean-up of Grounds: Three times per year, normally a Saturday morning from 8AM until 12 Noon, we do some special trimming, put up a sign, fix a fence or other similar projects. Tools and supplies are provided.
  • Parking Shepherd: We are blessed with wonderful attendance at certain Christian holidays. The parking lot can get congested and traffic flow a bit grid-locked. We need help directing traffic about 4 times per year. It normally takes about one hour. We provide safety vests.
  • Set up/Take Down Worship Space: During the year we periodically have dinners or special events that require some hands to take down and stack the chairs and erect tables. After the event the reverse is needed. This normally takes less than one hour for either and happens 5-6 times per year. Women, mid-high and older youths are welcomed to pitch-in here.
  • Painting & Special Projects: Periodically a room or section of a building needs painting or a closet needs shelves, or whatever. We have all the supplies and tools needed. This is on a as-needed basis and can be an evening after work, a Saturday, or whenever the group decides. These are never highly technical projects and a group leader who takes responsibility (and blame if necessary) is provided.
  • Snow Shoveling: We have a service that does the driveway and lots. We need help with the sidewalks. We will soon have a tractor with blade and chains but some areas need just a shovel and willing soul. This is a rare need but a real need and the person will know when it’s appropriate to show up.
