Children's Ministries

We are a community blessed with many children! We believe as a church, we are called to nurture and celebrate children as full participants in the Christian community. Children are always welcome in worship at Christ Church.  We understand a child’s need to move around and be active during worship, and provide activity boxes and a book cart in the milling area. We also provide a parent’s nursery (near the nursery), where parents can listen to the service while nursing, caring for, or playing with their young children. We are thrilled to have our children’s choirs sing often during worship, and encourage children to serve as readers, ushers, and acolytes.

We offer many programs designed especially for children. Everyone is invited to participate, and we always encourage children to invite their friends.  Here are a few of our programs:

egg hunt
Easter Egg Hunt and Petting Zoo
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Petting Zoo will be on March 28 (Palm Sunday) from 3-5 pm.  This is an outreach event for Christ Church; our kids fill the eggs and invite their friends.  We are currently collecting candy donations, which may be dropped off in the milling area in the blue bins.  We are also looking for volunteers to help with crafts, snack table, set up, clean up, etc.  Kids begin filling eggs March 7, so please bring donations soon!

Kids' Quest

Kids’ Quest is an exciting children’s education program held on Saturday evening (5:30) and Sunday morning (8:50 and 10:35) for kids Age 2-5th Grade.

Preschool children are in the downstairs of the Education Building and Elementary age children meet in the upstairs.  Newcomers, visitors, and friends are always welcome!

Kids' Quest uses the Spark! Rotation Model to help children travel along their faith journey. KidsQuest allows for children to learn in several different ways—art, music, drama, games, cooking, and more.  No more sitting still and quiet during children’s education time—Kids' Quest lets kids be kids!

Want to Participate in Kids' Quest?

Anyone is welcome to participate in Kids' Quest!  Please register so that we have your complete information.

Nursery

Nursery care is provided for children under four during Saturday worship and for children under three during Sunday worship. Nursery care is available 15 minutes before worship begins.  Our nursery is staffed by well trained, nurturing professional staff as well as parent volunteers. Our security procedures include safety labels and pagers available at check-in.  The nursery is located down the hallway to the left as  you enter the worship building. If your family uses the nursery regularly, we ask that you register him or her, so we will have complete information about your child.

Children's Chapel

Children’s Chapel is held during the 9:00 service on Sunday morning, and is for children age three through the first grade. Chapel leaders lead the children in storytime, music, prayers, and sometimes art.  Children begin worship in the sanctuary and are then led to the Education Building, returning to their parents for communion. If your child regularly attends Children’s Chapel, please complete a Chapel Registration Form, so that we can have complete information about your child.

H1N1 Policy

As we prepare to enter the fall, the children's ministry team is aware that many parents may have concerns about transmitting the H1N1 virus ("swine flu") at church.  Find our policy on wellness in general, and H1N1 prevention in particular, here.  You can help us keep our church safe by teaching your children to wash their hands often, encouraging them not to share personal items, and keeping them at home if they are sick.

Opportunities to Serve

All of our children’s ministry programs are possible because of people who serve with their time, talents, and energy.  Some areas where we need help are:

·        Leading children between workshops during Kids' Quest

·          Teaching a workshop for a 5 or 6 week rotation

·          Greeting children before Kids' Quest

·          Leading a high-energy and fun opening during Kids' Quest

·          Decorating classrooms, cleaning out closets, etc.

·          Staying to help in the nursery during worship

·          Many other ways!
