Memorial Garden

“Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39

The Memorial Garden of Christ Church Episcopal is a sacred space where the lives of loved ones are memorialized forever. It is a living garden providing space for reflection and prayer as we remember those commemorated there. Loved ones may be memorialized in three different ways: inurnment of ashes via niche, burial of ashes, or by installing a plaque on the garden wall.

Cremated remains are placed in a vessel which is then stored in a niche in the columbarium. Each niche is marked with a cast bronze plate bearing the name and dates of birth and death of each inurned person. The ashes of one or two persons may be inurned in a niche.

Cremated remains are buried in the raised garden bed. Those interred are commemorated with a bronze plaque on the memorial wall, bearing the name and dates of birth and death of the interred person.

A bronze plaque may also be placed on the memorial wall in memory of individuals whose remains are resting elsewhere.

Committal of remains, either through inurnment or interment, are arranged through the clergy of Christ Church and ordered according to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. Please contact one of the Christ Church clergy to make appropriate arrangements for a service of committal.
