Monthly Mission Highlight

Worldwide Hunger
Each month we hightlight a cause that we are working together to address. This month, we seek to learn more about food insecurity across the world.

Facts about Hunger
11.3% of the world’s population is hungry. That’s roughly 805 million people who go undernourished on a daily basis, consuming less than the recommended 2,100 calories a day.

1 in every 9 people goes to bed hungry each night.

Around the world, 795 million people do not have enough of the food they need to live an active, healthy life.

People suffering from chronic hunger are plagued with recurring illnesses, developmental disabilities and low productivity. They are often forced to use all their limited physical and financial resources just to put food on the table.

98 percent of the world’s hungry live in developing regions. Most of them live in Asia.

The majority of these hungry families live in rural areas where they widely depend on agriculture to survive.

How can we help?

Thanks to the 75 of you who have signed up to help pack 40,000 meals to be sent to impoverished countries around the world. All are invited to help purchase food for Thanksgiving Baskets to be given to our neighbors at The Sophie House.
